Promise

Topic: selfstruggles

It seems so dark and empty here,
lost here so alone.
Falling farther into this,
where have they all gone?

You all promised you'd be there, there to hold me.
You all promised... you all promised.

And it seems I'm just another lonely teenage girl,
lost in this swirling mass of flesh.
I'm just another suicidal shell of skin,
obsessed with this version of death.

You all promised you'd be there, there to hold me.
You all promised... you all promised.

I'm left here to face this demon inside,
this demon who's taking over me.
Destroying myself to reach him too,
and still none of you can see.

You all promised you'd be there, there to hold me.
You all promised... you all promised.

In agony I scream to the sky,
"WHERE ARE YOU GOD? WHY CAN'T i FEEL YOU?"
Collapsing to the rain soaked ground I whimper,
"I don't know what else to do..."

They all promised they'd be there, there to hold me.
They all promised... they all promised.

Will you hold me God as all others turn away,
will you wrap your hands around my blood stained wrists?
Hold me close Jesus, don't let me go....
prove to me that love still exists.

You promised you'd be there, there to hold me,
you promised... you promised.

Please make me new, don't abandon me,
don't drown me in this rain.
Don't leave me, I'm helpless,
I'm drowning in this pain...

You keep your promise... I feel you holding me,
don't break this... don't break this.

The sight of your scars, wounds I caused,
sends me to my knees anew.
Your life, the vision of your pain, burns into my eyes,
I know you've felt it too.

Hold me in your promises, your promises.

And it's amazing,
the feeling of rain and tears flowing down your face.
The relief is unfading,
as I'm collapsing in place.
