CONTRADICTIONS IN TERMS(Peter Sprenkeler)

Friendly Firea classic contradiction in terms,
The battlefield expression of which my condemnation it earns.
Humane Bombinga phrase coined during the recent war,
An appalling expressionwhich we all just have to deplore.

An Honest Politicianseems unlikely and hard to believe,
When invariably they do little more than completely deceive.
Christian Militiathe thought fills me with fear,
Those supposedly Hisdefying all He holds dear.

Punishment To Suit The Crimeso rarely the case,
Fifteen years for murdera complete judicial disgrace.
Diplomacya meaningless word that no longer applies,
Military might is what countssurely no great surprise.

Social Justicetwo words that should never be joined,
For many justice is raretoo frequently purloined.
The United Nationsthere is just no truth in the phrase,
A big dog with no teethnumbered are its days.

Made in Australiaoh yes if only it were true,
The fibres may bebut Taiwanese is the shoe.
Fat Freethe vibrant label does sing,
The reality isthere is no such thing.

True Liesis the expression more befitting our race,
Our inhumanity and injusticeis a social disgrace.
The Morning After Pilla typical example of our time,
Society is in serious errorwhen murder is no longer a crime.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
