Belmont Pines

Happy poems
Are few
And far between
I guess
Heartache
And drama
Is the best
Its what people
Want to hear
Make em feel sorry
And tell em its just a story
Never really happened.

But the voices
Are so soothing
Singin' me to sleep
This straight jacket
Is just a little tight
And these white wall
Drive me crazy
I'm going insane
At Belmont Pines.

They say
I'm already crazy
Tried to kill myself
Told em no
I didn't
Just chased some pills
With some vodka
Slit my wrist
Drove
Straight into a wall
Off a bridge
Shot myself
Twice
It was really nice
But
Can't you see
I'm not crazy.

I'm normal
But
I followed through
On an impulse
A thought
Listened to the voices
And I ended up here
They won't listen
To my story
They just stamp
CRAZY
Again
And again
At Belmont Pines.

Interesting relfections. True, for too many of us, Happy Poems are few. Honesty is a great expression, especially in verse.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
