Time to find myself

Contributed by jt on Friday, 10th September 2004 @ 10:25:50 PM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Derived from an era of forgotten thoughts
When life was easy, troubles unforseen
The care free self struggling to get out
but with eyes covered from realities gleam

Have I become one of the white faced walkers
This pressure of life moulds a familiar form
As we step into line behind all the rest
And we join the ranks of the tattered and torn

Working for the man on a minimum wage
Feeding the rich and starving the poor
Struggling to find what I want out of life
Striving to find what I’m struggling for

I’ll hold onto the part of me from within
That makes me smile, that makes me me
And though my shell may get battered and bruised
I cannot be what they want me to be

Be not what they say, say not what they be, but be true to the only one that maters, to be to yourself and in that be free.

Great poem, very enjoyable, and very good advice, thank you for sharing.
