somewhere along the way
I was hopelessly led astray
not til later did I find
I was too far left behind
now I condemn myself to hide
trapped by all my fears inside
hoping to just survive the day
seems these chains are here to stay
strange how I only feel alive
when I'm asleep and my dreams thrive
but when I wake, I'm dead again
and only feel a spark now and then
too many times, my trust betrayed
stabbed in the back by a cold blade
helpless, unable to even plead
and I am left here now to bleed
