The Mark of the Man!

THE MARK OF THE MAN(Peter Sprenkeler)

His wordhis integrityto this he will cleave,
Even to his own detrimenthe cannot bend his law.
A promise is a vowit must be upheld,
It is his soulhis honournothing matters more.

The mark has little to do with prestige and status,
Nothing in common with wealth nor power nor fame.
It is a stance of the heartthat right is right,
And burns within his soul as a powerful flame.

A man of distinction carries this with intense humility,
By justice he will liveand from it never sway.
Nothing can influence nor corrupt his steely resolve,
It is rightand he will always walk this way.

He has mastered the art of deep introspection,
Carefully examines his motives and state of mind.
He loves powerfullyforgives willingly,
And will in all uglinessa portion of beauty find.

Gracious in victoryyet humble in defeat,
Words of anger will never spill from his soul.
For he knows full wellwords can be weapons,
And can exact on any relationshipan irreversible toll.
