Do not think me unkind, for this Our simple exchange cannot bear The distance that excludes a kiss Where lips should meet, is only air.
The space between our outstretched hands Defies their effort to embrace The contrast that is both our lands Makes distance often more than space.
The thunderous roar of water spray Upon your shore is deafening How quickly it will wash away The matter of our chance meeting
I feel my heart is strong and sure Yet ears are deaf to waterfall So while I love you sweet and pure It doesnt matter here at all.

This title caught my eye - as I think almost eveyone I know has written something about-distant shores - so it is always interesting to see variations on this theme - you have captured the feelings well - gentlly letting go - nice work.
