Souls drifting

I see this world as souls drifting past each other, They sometimes touch briefly and sometimes for longer, They are often masked hiding their true form, Into their honest being they will never transform.
I let myself drift with nothing to hide, I never dawdled I would take life in my stride, I was content and happy I thought I had what I needed, I thought with my life I had succeeded.
Then in the distance for the first time I saw you, You were far and unclear but I glimpsed something true. Your soul was beautiful it looked different and gold, And before I knew it into me it began to mould.
For eternity, but only a brief moment in time, I was completely yours and you were mine. But as quickly as it began, you chose it to end, And as I watched you walk away I lost my lover and best friend
And now I struggle to be without the one thing I need, From my heart and soul I continue to bleed, Hours go by and I wonder if this is how it is supposed to be, Me without you and you without me.
Being with you I found the ultimate peace, Yet without you I am filled with a pain I cant release, I wait and wait hoping for it to disappear, Half in anticipation half in fear.
