The Man with His Cross
The crown of thorns
Prickle His furrowed brow
His garments are
Dirt soil blood-streaked ragged and torn
Sweat stains mired with crimson
This Man
Bore my infirmities
My shame
With nailed feet and hands
Sword-stabbed side
Bids me to come and die
To self
To sin
To earthly treaures
So I may be born again
In newness of life
A new creature in Him.
This Man with His Cross
Compels me to Serve
His punctured hand raises and waves for me
To take up my own cross and follow Him.
Regarless of me
Regardless of cost
But all that I may gain
I count as my loss
For the foolishness of my faith
Is foolishness to the world
But the wealth of this world
Is foolishness to me
For I serve Him who died
But now lives
Forever in debt
To His free gift
Life eternal
Given at
Calvary.

I really like the images you invoke and the words you use.
And that's from my secular point of view: I can still appreciate your devotion and how you expressed it in this poem.
It's a good read. Compelling like
a classic painting of calvary.
