Innocence

Contributed by Willofree on Friday, 17th September 2004 @ 11:50:10 AM in AEST
Topic: spiritual

Within the womb where a living fetus grows
Is the source of life where creation is bestowed
Protected from the world with all its torment
Incased in a soothing and safe environment

Safe from harmful outside forces
Completely dependent upon inner resources
It is ultimately the mother you see
Who has control over the baby's destiny

Although this precious gift of life is God given
It is still up to the mother as to liven
She determines whether the infant lives or dies
All based on a presumption that it is her right to decide

God, how far have we drifted away
From the sanctity of life that you portrayed
Where do we get the right to decide
Whether this life within lives or dies

How can we be so self-righteous as to proclaim
It is a person's right to choose we claim
Forsaking God's commandment plain and clear
Resorting to legal arguments and fear

May God's love and gift of life we all enjoy
Become the awareness we employ
We may surrender to His omnipotence
Truly devote our lives to protecting the innocent

Stand your ground about what you believe in!
Yours is a beautiful poem. Yes! A woman's choice ends upon conception.
Great Job!

Not to mention that the embryo develops nerves and has feelings..the aborting process inducess much agonizing pain..much like torture. Usually either a vacuum process that pulls it apart piece by piece or acid that burns it alive. People think of it as a "thing" so their concience doesn't have to bother them...I agree with you. Thank you for that courageous post...

I read this on friday just after you posted ... life has been hectic for me of late and I was unable to post a comment, I am glad that I came back to it tonight for now I have a new favorite of all of the work you have posted.
This is by far one of your best. A tough subject matter handled masterfully.

Great! Full of feeling and indignation. I really liked this and appreciated it. I hope that others will find their way to this poem. It holds such a good message. Your conviction is strong, and I admire that. Keep writing.
