My Wretched World

Contributed by Vampy on Sunday, 10th November 2002 @ 02:00:00 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

*The beginning*
A charming demon
knocks on my door,
grabs my wrist
and leads me away.

He takes me away
to an unknown world,
a scary world,
a different world.

*The world*
A place where light
does not shine,
a place where the moon
does not glow,
a place where people
do not care.

It's a world full
of war,
of hate,
of evil-
a place where nothing loves.

Everyone dies,
everyone cries,
everyone suffers-
no one loves.

*The people*
Their leader is Hate
their enemies are one another
their values do not exist
their greed controls them
their interests are sex and violence
their hearts are dead.

They hate everything,
they care for nothing,
except themselves.

*The end*
It's such a sick, sad world,
where happiness is an illusion...

I awake and look out
my window,
a sadness overtakes me-
I see the world
that the demon
showed to me in my sleep.

The growing fear
turns to fact-
what I saw
was not another world-
it was mine.

This is a pretty bad place you're describing and it's always nice to be able to leave it for a while. Maybe the rose coloured glasses are necessary sometimes. I like your poem because I can relate but it's still pretty damned bleak.

There are times I wonder if the reason people are beginning to observe this is because they're ready to change society. Ever get the feeliing the final act might be just over the next hill?

Well it sure describes my country!
