Always it Seems

My shoulder has been cried upon Many times, And lately I have been longing To break my hard male exterior And just cry on a friend Instead of only crying on the inside My sinews ripping and tearing From my lack of outward emotion I feel as if I can't bottle up Any more pain, But always it seems As if I have room for more Always it seems Room for another ounce of pain Always it seems The world throws another twist There's never a shoulder For me to cry on Not that I deserve one, But maybe the world Could stop laughing at me Maybe all the s*** Could be lifted off of me For a day But, whenever I look in the mirror I see a hardened, bitter teenager No, a young man So hardened That he refuses to show emotion So hardened That he refuses to let everything go... And just cry And whenever I look in the mirror I realize, with a twinge of regret That I have to continue on That all this crap Is for a purpose No matter, how pointless it seems And I turn away Tears streaming down my heart

Very powerful writing
Locked up emotions=pain.
It's ok to cry.
Showing emotion is not a sign of weakness but strength.
When you sit alone thinking, your problems can tangle and multiple in your head. Talking them through with someone who cares just straightens them out a little.
I hope you'll forgive me for this, but it's difficult to read this poem without trying to help.
Rgds

Bobo, I can only repeat all that Dave has said here.
This is a gutwrenching poem and one of your most powerful I think. Your last two lines
" And I turn away
Tears streaming down my heart "
are going to always stay with me.

But what a gush of tears this was, only in literal form instead of H2O... wow, you never fail to impress me, joel. This is something that most guys wouldn't even think about writting about, even though I am 100% sure they have all felt like you describe at one time or another... Riddle me this, batman... that masculine fear of crying... A weakness or a strength? |
