Today my mother
was brought to tears,
because of a song
she hadn't heard in years.
She sat in the kitchen quietly
to the words she did sing,
a lot of memories
the song did bring.
When I was a little girl
you sang this song to me,
I still listen to it
it's called Evergreen.
I never understood why
the song meant so much to you,
you sung it to me often
when I was feeling down and blue.
The song I still listen to
is full of meaning,
it's only shared
just between you and me.
Now, I understand
why you sang it to me,
this is our song
it's called Evergreen.
