What Do You See?

Contributed by pixie on Sunday, 3rd October 2004 @ 02:01:45 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

What is that you can see?
When you look into me,
Is it the hate & the hurt?
Do you see me lay in the dirt?

Or do you see the lost, little girl,
One thats been destroyed by the world,
The one who has forgotten how to smile,
Who thinks of herself as rotten & vile.

Maybe it is the innocent child,
Who never wanted to act wild,
But things that happened to her,
Spoilt her once perfect fur.

Tainted her & made her suffer,
All those things made her tougher,
But they also made her bleed,
She felt it all oh yes indeed.

But she did not speak of it,
In her own face she did spit,
Hated herself for so many years,
So damn scared to face her fears.

Deep rooted pain & suffering,
To her life many trials did it bring,
She stood them all & stood alone,
Longing finally to return to her home.

Here she stands to this day,
Battling to keep her demons at bay,
Fighting & struggling each day of her life,
She wont ever be depressions battered wife.

What do I see? Well, that is a hard question to answer...

I see a very well composed poem, telling the troubles of a person that many believe they know, but very few take the time to get to know.

I see a person writing down their life in a form that so little actually appreciate, and I see one of the most touching poems I've read to date.

I also see a talent that very few will ever retain, and I hope to see much more out of you in the future.

I see an increadibly stong individual. Someone who is thoughtful and amazing. I see someone who has had troubles, but helps others anyway. I see a tremendous writer who touches many people and their lives. I see some one I admire more than most. It was a great poem as well. I know how it feels to wonder what people see. In fact, I still question it i myself. Good luck. Lotsa hugs!

I see someone who has been through a lot, but is not a quitter; and keeps on in spite of the pain. The poem does a beautiful job of expressing your difficult journey. Hopefully,

...with all you have been through
You now recognize the value of you
For the struggles that you find yourself in
Help to define the character within...

you recognize your value as a person

Good luck

Very powerful! I understand your battles. I deal with a few of my own. I am one of the lucky ones who found peace and love with in myself and was able to take my life back. I wish that for you my friend. Keep expressing yourself with your words, I have always found writing so therapeutic. Much peace and love.
