Bittersweet words fall silent as unfallen tears remain defiant but it's all as cold as your touch.
Left to feel so numb inside.
I see it never really mattered much. That I was always set aside.
Go on ahead and hide.
Hide from what we are inside. Go ahead and scream how much you cried. It never mattered, always just some bad dream.
What I want is what I hate.
What I need is all I fear.
Remember what you wanted me to be when anything that would save me was as simple as to be free.
Let it go.
Get it done.
All we need is to be freed.

if we could only master the skill of mixing childlike simplicity with maturity's wisdom, wouldn't life be bliss?

I like this poem.
And your format is
very complimentary to
what you are saying.
Effective.

"All we need
is to be freed."
Amen to this stanza.
On the rest...interesting perspective. Can't help but wonder to whom this is addressed.
None of us survives unscarred.

Krissie says this made her think . . . it didn't make me think. Rather, it made me feel . . . in a numb, quiet, empty sort of way I didn't really want to.
Now I'm going to go and reread this too many times--no. I will not. I will not I will not I will not--, so bye.

I, too, have missed you a lot, Jeff. I don't think life is half as complicated as we try to make it. We seem obsessed with ourselves and our trials in life. Maybe being free is accepting who and what you are and tweaking it a bit to create happiness. But then, that would be too easy wouldn't it?!
((((hugs))))

All we need is to be freed - but how? What to let go of? What to hold on to? What to feel? What not listen to?
Sometimes it doesn't seem so clear to me.
Honest, expressive piece. Some of the lines really come home to me, though I don't quite catch it all (not at this time of night, anyway).
Take care.

Very well-written. I liked the intensity in this.
And the honesty.
To be free... simple words but they go so deep. Sometimes the more independant we get-- the less free we become.

Well, it's true when we were younger, things weren't so complicated. And when we get older, we make things complicated. Well, I agree with you on this matter. You write very well over here. Thanks for sharing with us your talent :-) |
