Autumn Gusts

Autumn leaves swirl around my feet, they rise above my head. They catch in my hair, on my clothes, I think they need a bed.
The air is crisp; the wind is brisk. The trees are skeletons. The leaves that dressed the trees before Are now raked up in tons.
A girl runs by, her dress flies high, her arms full of schoolbooks. She tries to tame her curly mane and gets some ardent looks.
A man with toupee on his head, holds fast, but all in vain. The brown rug flies across the sky, and lands on a storm drain.
He races over to retrieve that mark of vanity. He snatches the offending piece, and hides behind a tree.
These gusts of wind that harry 'round create a perfect sight. This scene is but a little piece of something that is right.
The day goes on, the gusts still blow, the scene has now shifted. My thoughts are back on mundane things, my view of life has lifted.
