Kid from the Suburbs
Lonely kid from the suburbs,
Just hit the big town,
With some big dreams and a gun by my side,
Lonely kid from the suburbs,
Thats what I am
When you get right down to it
& People, people from the big city,
They try to pin me down & ask me about my heart & about trust
They press red flowers against the glass windows in my eyes
Hey, I had a heart once
Mary-Lou in the summertime, blue skies & golden sands,
We danced around the party, we had them looking,
We had them saying all kinds of things
& When I looked in her eyes I knew we were connected
But honey, that was all a long time ago
We lost each other in the wasteland of youth,
We never danced at the party again,
Sometimes things just happen that way,
It hurts for a while, but then you just get back
Back to real life, back to having dreams & faith in better days
My heart, its floating on a second life,
& Whats bled out is just old scars,
& if you kissed me I would not be cold to it,
If you kissed me I would not be cold to it,
Im a child of the Ocean,
I want to surf and just forget about anything cold,
I want to forget about anything dark inside
Lonely kid from the suburbs,
