Scent of a Woman

Topic: LovePoetry

I lie here every night waiting for her to come through that door so I can tell her the truth
But every time, its like I hit mute
I want to tell her so I can finally get this off my chest
And maybe shell forgive the rest
Of all the things Ive done
Lying to her was the worst one
Coming home everyday to wash off the scent of deception
Telling myself that this was an exception
To the vows we took when we got married
I can still remember the day I picked up and carried
Her to the bed we would call home
But the entire time it seemed I was alone
In wanting to make our honeymoon, nights wed never forget
But caressing her body was as close as Id get
To feeling my wife inside and out
Ive never even heard my wife scream and shout
While both of us laid together
And after three years
It didnt get any better
So I went out and found what I couldnt get from my wife
Hoping I was able to resurrect my sex life
And when I did, I continued on a steady pace
But every kiss would remind me of her face
Every inch would remind me of taste
That I couldnt get out of my mouth
While I was touring the south
And every night it gets harder to keep it inside
Sometimes I wish I could hide
From the difficult thing I must do
Honey, theres something I have to tell you

Hi everyone! Thank you for the great posts, but I feel I should tell you something. I'm only 19 and I haven't been married yet. I wrote this poem because I wanted to challege myself and see if I could imerse myself in a character and write a poem as that person. "Now I Lay" is writen in the same format. I am sorry if I made you believe a falsehood but I'm trying to grow as a person and a writer and I just wanted to write something that not just my parents, "may" have went through but other people out there. Thx and Holla Front!!!!!!!!!!
