Learning to Let Go

Topic: dedicatedpoems

I had to say goodbye so I could learn to live again
You thought I had an eye for all those other men
I'm just trying to find my way, while I wait for your return
Even if you don't feel the same, the fire in me still burns
I'm expecting to be disappointed and hear you don't love me
But I still have high hopes of a future that you may see
But for now I'm letting go and waiting to see your smile
Our lives are written in the stars, and will be for a while
One day at a time was what we said, but does that still hold true?
In my dreams you seem to stay, and it's no one but me and you
Paradise is your hand in mine, and our hearts beating as one
I cannot speak for you towards me, but grudges for you, I have none
Every day you teach me how to move on
But I can't help feeling life without you is so wrong
What will I do if you never come home to me like you said?
What if you did and found another lover instead?
These thoughts throw me back and forth
To relight your flame, I always carry a torch
The simple little symbol you gave me so long ago
With it hanging from my neck, you presence I'm sure to know
Simple words are not enough to tell you all I feel
I'd have to look you in the eye and show it to you for real
I can tell from what I've seen that we belong together
And the horror of all this is: history will repeat forever...

Wow, great write. I know exactly how you feel I just went through the same emotions this week when I found out my ex had someone else. It eats away at you and its hard, but maybe you will come back together. Everything happens for a reason.

Ive been there I was with a guy on and off for 7 years. we were young when it begun only 13 but it took me 4 years to get over, I even married and had a son with another man still feeling the pain. But when my marriage ended, and my past love and I got in touch I realized that I was in love with who I knew he could be, not who he actually was. He called me a few days ago, and even though I still felt something for him I knew it would never be the way I dreamed, and that I had to let go no matter how hard it was. Sometimes we yearn for what might have been and we need to realize that the love will last forever in our hearts, but we must move on, time will heal all wounds, until you can fully let go, you will never truly love another. I really love your poem, I felt that way once. Keep up the good work and may life take away your pain.
