Crying, she walked to her room. Her mother speaking in a hopeless tone through the door. "please, just listen to me!" Thoughts of hatred from the teen filled her head. She heard the inner voice inside her telling her she needed something. "Why won't everyone just leave me alone and let me live my life! At school the next day she ran into an old friend. The friend said hello and gave her some sort of flyer and said " I think you should come." Thoughts of hatred and confusion resumed her mind. "So what if I want to hang out with certain people...or take harmful substances? It's my life, I'll live it like I want to!" Later that afternoon she was called to the office to be picked up by her father. When they got in the car, he turned around with tears flowing down and said, "Your mother doesn't have a long time to live. She has been diagnosed with a rare disease that has affected her heart. The girl sat in silence, and remembered her mother's words the night before. They arrived at the hospital and nervously walked into her room. The mother looked up and smiled and said, " honey, I love you and I want you to do one thing for me. Please, just go to the church one time." The girl gave a fake smile and said, "I guess I will." Later that night the mother passed away, and the family was devastated. The girl cried out in anger, " I hate all this stupid stuff about God, he's never there for me, and now he's taken my mom!" The next week she found the flyer the friend at school gave her. She decided to do what her mother had said, and go to this revival at a nearby church. She walked in and sat down alone, not wanting anyone to reach out to her. As the songs started she felt a burden upon her heart. "Just leave me alone, I don't want you in my life!" she said to the burden. Then the song became loud and clear and touched her soul.
"Years I spent in vanity and pride caring not my Lord was crucified Knowing what it was for me he died, on calvary."
She then gave into the voice within and surrendered to the Lord. After leaving the church, she was consumed with peace. Walking into her room laid a letter, on it said, My dearest daughter. She opened the letter and it read.
I am very sick now, neither you or your father know that. I have been diagnosed with a rare disease that will destroy my heart. I have known of this disease for three weeks, but I have kept it from you. I love you, but I can't make your decision of life. I know that you can't remember, but when you were small I used to take you to church all the time. I would sing to you your favorite song everynight from the hymnal, "At Calvary".
The girl dropped the letter and didn't finish reading it. She ran and told her father what had happened at the revival and what her mother had written. Her father gasped and said, "What letter?" She said, "the one you placed on my bed." He looked up with tears, and whispered, " I didn't put it there." The girl fell to her knees and thanked God for what he had allowed to happen.

Oh, the love that drew salvation's plan, oh, the grace that brot it down to men oh, the mighty gulf that God did span at calvary ! Mercy there was great, and grace was free, pardon there was multiplied to me, there my burdened soul found liberty at calvary....
LOVE THAT SONG, AND I LOVE YOUR BEATUTIFUL STORY. I call it a GOD MOMENT. we all have them everyday if only we open our eyes and see .. we do see when we want to.. we hear.. when we want to. as for the story. my heart goes out to the teenager who lost her mom, keep them coming.. sandy |
