Not For Me

Sweet romance is a stupid term. Moreover, I never much cared for love. Just something you have to get used to I am not falling for you anytime soon.
I am sorry but it is just the truth, Honesty is the best policy, Or so that is what I have heard. I do not think I believe it right now, lying works fine.
When I pick up and leave you You had better not cry you knew this was coming. One thing I did not lie about Was that I do not fall in love.
Staying in one place was never my intention I need to travel down dusty roads Not knowing where I will end up. So I could not stay with you in your little perfect house.
My dreams never included a white picket fence And little kids at my feet, Not even a family dog by the door. I have a stray mutt running behind me that is all I need.
So I had to pick up and leave in the night Before you got to attached to my fun loving spirit Or before you got a dog, And I got a kid growing in me.
So now, I am back on the road Waiting for the next run in my life The next house with the next wrong man And the next mutt to run by my feet.
