The Pain

Topic: FamilyPoems

One more push the doctor said.
Yes one more push, I see the head!
She took a deep breath and pushed once more
The pressure was great and she let out a roar.
And with that a small face appeared.
Stop! Said the doctor with a little fear,
The cord is wrapped around your baby my dear.
She stopped and waited, she wanted to help
Suction and cutting and then a yelp.
A loud scream from the baby came out!

Shaking and tears began to fall
As they placed on her belly the little one so small.
Its okay baby mommy is here.
The entire room filled with tears.
All the pain she had to endear, all the stress and the anguish soon disappeared.
There was much heartache and emotions this young mother had
All because of this small ones dad.
She loved him she did but in reality he was just a kid.
He was there with her looking at this small little life,
Smiling and kissing his beautiful wife.

Two months passed and the baby grew
The father was young and jobs were few
Tired and stressed the young mother knew
She would have to provide for this family so new.

In uniform she said goodbye
And took the big bird into the sky
The young man followed he loved his wife
Bringing the baby they both loved dear
Making a new start in a brand new year.

In this new place the young couple felt great
But two months later was a fateful date.
Many nights she was home alone
Out was her husband and he did roam
One night there came a harsh knock
The young man jumped up and ran in shock.
In came people screaming and yelling
The young mother didnt understand exactly what they were telling
She cried and held onto the baby so dear
Handcuffs were on the young man and she was told to stay near.
Soon she would find many secret and lies
She thought of her baby and tears filled her eyes.

Months passed again and the baby grew more
Such a sweet little girl that the young mother adored
The father was trying but he had hurt her so much
He knew they were lost that they had grown out of touch

She was called by her country to defend
She told her young husband their fate would depend
He needed to grow up you see
He needed to take responsibility
Time he did not have and the mother knew
So on a plane grandpa flew.
Taking the baby she loved so
She was flying off to fight an unknown foe.
The father left to serve time and deal with his woes.

Months passed by the young woman cried.
She was lonely and sad and no word came from the young dad
Pictures and letters her mother did write
Telling her about her small ones life.
This gave her hope to move on and let go.
So she wrote a letter to the young father and told him so.
No response came at all not a word not a letter
And that she decided was probably better.
So she said goodbye to that short part of her life
Moving on as nobodys wife.

On she moved alone and sad
But thoughts of her small one made her heart glad.
Soon she did meet a handsome young man
Brave and responsible he took life by the hands
He made her feel strong and independent again
She knew she had feelings
But could she love and trust again?

He shared with her in letters that grandma would write
He talked about meeting this small little life.
Time passed by and he still was there
She began to wonder how much of her life he was willing to share.

Finally able to return back home
The young soldier boarded the plane all alone.
It had been nine long months since she had been gone.
Off the plane she did walk,
Nervous and exited to see the small tot.
Balloons and screams of joy were yelled
She cried as she looked and the beautiful young one she held.

She is beautiful said the eager young man
As he looked at them both he had a plan
He loved them both and took their hands
They started a new life with this new young man.
