To Chase Your Shadow Away

Contributed by lanna047 on Monday, 1st November 2004 @ 09:18:08 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

memories of you
on occasion creep in
I recall happier days
buried deep within
and for a time
I'm able to smile
I grasp to it tight
for it's been a while
I long for peace I had
when I was around you
I had nothing to fear
how quickly time flew
but sooner or later
the bliss is chased away
replaced by reality
and complete disarray
what remains is just pain
the transformation is swift
any good thoughts I had of you
have been set adrift
it never fails to be
this is always the way
when I'm reminded of you
before long, I'm in dismay
the easy thing to do
is not think of you at all
so I don't let my spirits
rise and then suddenly fall
I do what I must
to chase your shadow away
perhaps there is a chance
I'll forget about you today

Love is sometimes tough to put behind us with those memories that tend to run through a mind like a river flooding her banks. Only if it were so easy to forget, then the pain from love gone bad wouldn't feel like a knife in the heart. I do hope that your heart has been able to make amends. Good luck in that department, Ted Bare.

memories of a past love can be very painful, they always seem to linger for the longest of times, a very emotional write,

pixie xx
