A place I can belong

Contributed by lostinmyself on Thursday, 4th November 2004 @ 11:17:29 AM in AEST
Topic: poets

I have never been able to put into words, the way I feel,
Never been able to tell things the way I wanted them told,
I could never tell you what you mean to me--
The words sounded wrong...

And now I feel I can tell you, the things I could never say,
Tell you that you've helped me more than you could know,
I just need to thank you for being here for me--
And making me strong...

I never knew a friendship that gave as much as it got,
Never knew that there was more than the friends that I lost,
I always wanted to find a friend who took me, for me--
You were here all along...

And now, it appears,
I have found,
A place I can belong..

And now I can put into words, what I feel everyday,
Can tell you things, and know they are the right things to say,
I can tell you everything that you mean to me--
The words no longer sound wrong...

I cannot remember the things I couldn't say,
I would have never believed before, that I would be helped this way,
I had no one to thank, no one was here for me--
I could never be strong...

And now I have your friendship, the one I always sought,
I do not need to be sad for all the friends I have lost,
I no longer need to find a friend, who takes me for me--
I found you after so long...

This is where I belong...

**********

Thankyou for everything you have given to me...
I love you all

Change not a thing ... It reads perfectly.
And it comes from the heart.
I bet many here can relate to the sentiment I know I can. You have said it much better than I could hope to.

Thank You !!!!

Aww, a heartwarmer, this one! I think the style is quite good, by the way.

I'm proud to be here, proud to know the folks I do, and very happy to read this. Take care, you!

*indulges in sappy but gosh-darned nice feeling*

You've said what so many of us have felt - and said it well. What a terrific poem to happen upon today. You've left me smiling.

*hugs you*

this was wonderful phil. it is a bit rough, but i rather like rough edges in poems. i liked how you would refer to what you stated earlier in different words in your later verses. that is very creative and gets the point across without being too repetetive. some people have yet to master this technique. the tone and style of this was excellent. this rather works for you as does everything you try.
