The Missing Key.

THE MISSING KEY(Peter Sprenkeler)

In the swirling mists of evil and anger and violence,
Our global societies grope and stumble in the gloom.
Desperately seeking the light and freedom,
From our self made prisonwe crave for life to bloom.

Yet the door from this Hell is securely locked,
There seems no escape from our constant place of pain.
Bloodshed and hatred will remain our constant companions,
On the real beauty of lifewe are a wretched stain.

Yet escape is possiblea road to freedom beckons,
From our chains and misery we can be released.
We just have to find the keythat has long been missing,
Its loss the very reasonso much human goodness has deceased.

And the key is forgivenessthe very mortar of humanity,
It is the antidote to all violence anger and hate.
It unlocks the doorsto our societal and emotional maelstrom,
We must find it againbefore it is all too late.

Yet forgiveness we cannot conjurenor engineer,
Nor pretendnor feigngenuine it has to be.
And in the open hands of God is the only place well find,
Mankinds freedomfor it He who holds the key.

He gave it to us in eons passedbut we hurled it away,
Into the mud of our arrogance the key was crushed.
Yet He picked it upand waited for our senses to return,
Back to Himwe all should have rushed.

Forgiveness comes from Godand indeed goes to the bone,
A free giftHe summons us to just take the key from His hand.
For once forgiveness is accepted and securely locked in the soul,
Only then will we of God and true freedomfully understand.
