He turns up in his business suit
His shiny car and verbal flute
And with fearsome face gives his usual rant
It sounds real authorative but is merely cant
Selling Jesus by the pound
Hed sell his soul for that
Fixing the mind of America
Makes his bank balance fat
Its all going so well in his eyes
This little piece of Gods franchise
The deliverance of prejudiced product
And the marketing of lies
Hes never done better
And all the old broads he can lay
The dollars keep on building
In the MODERN church they say
But po-faced he must ALWAYS look
As he studied in his mirror
Looking always SO sincere
The soul-scam to deliver
Selling America their own soul
Like a pound of meet
And dont those collections
Always sound so sweet?
Now we see Larry with cream silk suit
He get em clappin, makes em pay
The cash register keeps on chiming
Day on Lordy day
Its their only entertainment!
He says beneath his breath
What ELSE are these buzzards gonna do
before their dyin breath?
There is a house in Palm Springs
And a mortgage to be paid
Thru collections donated by the marks
Or the last old lady to be laid
Prostitutes for Christ
are needed each night and day
Old Larry has his haircut
Fluttering hearts he must sway
And the local business tie-ins?
Very lucrative too!
And the political connections?
Yeah, we stick like glue!
Herd those sheep to market
With a merry glint in your eye
Were selling Jesus by the pound
And the profits are sky high!

This is a great poem I really like it. I feel the same way about politicians. I know they don’t have the easiest job but they get lost in money and power and perhaps blackmail here and there. I agree with that. It would be a breath of fresh air if we felt one would actually be there for the people and do for the people the best they could.

I still say a lot of these types of "Christians" and Christian Fundamnetalists in general need to read Matthew 24.
