The child smiled and shook his head "I don't know how to dance." Watching her, just walking off, "I never had the chance." It wasn't that he didn't try Or never struck a disco stance It's just the music made him shy And people laughed when he once pranced The others always did it well Told him he would waltz just fine But he kept staring at his feet Mumbling more 'next time's He longed to glide across the ground To twirl and sway and rock But always ended up around The "I don't dance"r's block He smiled again and shook his head Another girl, more "I can't dance," Trying to laugh, sighed instead "I'll never get the chance..."

Reminds me of someone I once knew. I think it works quite well in rhyme.

I'd leave it in rhyme; it works ok.
You struck a universal chord in
young men fearful of looking silly.
It was only my overpowering need
to nuzzle up against cute girls in a
socially acceptable way which
overcame my shyness.
Let's give a cheer for the overactive
libido, lest we lose the the art of the
dance.!*g*

Not a bad write................writes are usually not bad, because it comes from your heart.......that is what counts. Thanks for sharing. |

Ahh, now I've a bit of a connection to this one somewhere.
I enjoyed the rhyme. It's tasteful. On the whole, quite a good piece.
And do keep up hope. Some girls out there don't dance well either, I've heard...
