The curtains gape open, Theres only darkness Surrounding you, becoming you The lights peek through, And reveal the most enthralling being Wrapped in white lace, A pallid gown of sheer splendor Eyes cast down, Raven hair flowing freely, Shining brilliantly under the spotlight The audience shift in their seats with anticipation and excitement... Waiting, Forever waiting for the ghostly statue on the great stage to move The lovely angels head lifted up slowly, Eyes fully exposed; endless blue Contrasting beautifully with her ebony locks This inhuman beauty evoked amid sighs of utter delight... She wasperfect. Her bud-like mouth opened, And the sweetest hymn escaped her fine lips Soft, melancholic, We know not what she spoke of, But it was beautiful, it was harmonious... Boundless, a white dove soaring high, Her voice fluttering along with my heart... The music ceased abruptly, The bellowing song of hatred, sung by the man alongside her... A secret love has been revealed, The Master does not approve, The slave must be punished Her wings were clipped, Feeble and broken she laid on the cold floor, Tears of remorse descending A strained poem of pain, and devotion, A perfect hoax He claimed that he knew what she had done, That he saw her with him Tears flow more freely now, Sobs emitting from the heart broken angel She screams No! She was forever devoted to him, Her master, her eternal love The audience, now on the edge of their seats, Frantically trying to figure out what will happen next As for me, I knew I knew what horror was to be seen after this brutal quarrel The voices rise high, The gruff tones of the male, The high-pitched Melodies of the female... Rising, ascending higher and higher, Intertwining with each other, Creating a bittersweet hymn... Droning, 24 voices joined as one booming sound, Singing in a foreign tongue, yet still enchanting... The Master, insane with jealousy, Slaps the broken dove, Driving the chorus to a hushed silence Everything was quiet, Not a word was uttered from the stunned audience below She, la beau ange, shattered, Let out a final burst of energy, Into a cry of defiance, Proclaiming her love, her soul and her heart, To her secret lover She stabs the Master with her dagger-like words, Of hate, of perpetual disgust His words seemed to have left him, He just stood like a dumb-founded bust The chorus rises again, Out from the ashes, reborn from the Silence A rapid, almost harsh tune is sung, Preparing us, the bewildered audience, For the grand finale The rhythm became wild, frantic, The damaged seraph now fully restored, Hatred coursing through her veins She unsheathes her Masters dagger, And with a final cry of love to her enigmatic lover, The charming bird thrusts Death into her heart, Descending to the floor, Forming a pool of white lace, And the horrid lake of blood, Spilling to the stunned Masters feet Mechanically, he faces us, With tears streaming down his pallid complexion
Non ho ragione per vivere Il Mio seraph magnifico caduto, il Successo, e morto Sacrificando la sua vita, Ed il suo amore per un altro Questa canzone, e la vita ha finito
(I have no reason to live, My lovely seraph has fallen, Hit and died Sacrificing her life and her heart, For another This song and life, have ended)
The lights dim into complete obscurity, Leaving us in astonishment, and tears The blood red curtains veiled the two lifeless bodies, Whispering solemnly into our ears,
Fin

Magnificient! I love the opera, the tenors I LOVE this poem. I listen constantly to Pavarotti and Andre Boccelli (although some don't consider him in the league, I do)

Encore!
What splendid glorious poetic beauty.
Opulent
I could visualise the scene it was mesmerising my heart beat grew faster and my eyes opened wider feeling every word.
Magnificent FleurdeSang I am in awe of your poetry
The lights dim into complete obscurity,
Leaving us in astonishment, and tears…
The blood red curtains veiled the two lifeless bodies,
Whispering solemnly into our ears,
The final affair what talent you have

I was with the audience at the edge of my seat the entirety of the read. Held, trancelike, enthralled with every word ... amazed at the magnificence of how well you could hold, for that amount of time ... my total complete and utter attention. Stunned silence follewed ... even after I read through a second time. Absolutely one of your best, Steph.
Bravo !!!
