Falling in love is so intense
There's really nothing quite like it
Feelings are so immense
Excitement can give us a real fit
So fickle love seems to be
Loving one day and parting the next
It is really a terrible travesty
Pain it causes is so complex
Confusion and shattered feelings linger
We are left with wounded hearts
Frequently angry and pointing the finger
Deep down still loving, not wanting to part
What went wrong we ponder in dismay
Swear we will never get hurt again
Thought everything was going okay
Now am just left to sink or swim
Tried everything to please all the time
My aim was to make my partner happy
Just wanted the jerk to be a friend of mine
Cry now as the pain and loss make me so unhappy
Maybe we just moved too fast
Perhaps we did not get to know each other
We never really explored our past
It hurts so bad I may never recover
If I were to fall in love again
Would do some things differently
Made some mistakes to my chagrin
It's hell being alone, quite candidly
Did we not communicate that well
Were we not considerate of each other's needs
Perhaps we were guarded for a spell
Playing it safe until the other would take heed
Were we tender and passionate in making love
Or was our sex aggressive and lustful
Perhaps we need to turn to the One above
So we can learn to be more trustful
