Can’t we have a world of porcelain and glass
Of tea parties and china sets and children’s innocence
Where grown ups can play and politics are useless
And ‘colored’ just describes the sky at its best.
Can’t we find a place that has a blue moon each week
Where you get answers to questions you’ve wanted to seek
A place where you find that heaven and earth coexist
And your thoughts aren’t like rolling valleys of mist.
Can’t we find a time where language is one
Where we’re not scattered and lost like false syllables
Kindness is free, and judgment can wait
And murders don’t climb at a staggering rate.
Because where will we be
If we don’t even see
That the world needs changing
Like an art that’s not raging
And how will we live
If feelings leak like a sieve
We’re a nation of violence
That needs to be silenced.

| a BLUE MOON each week would be great. This is a great write. I especially love the idea of thoughts like "rolling valleys of mist" ... spectacular visual, and very moving. Nice job! :) |
