Running, flying, falling...
Cant turn back,
Cant show them the beast inside.
Hungry, always yearning to feed,
Upon the worthless souls that inhabit this wretched earth...
Guilt, remorse, agony...
I was free for only a fleeting moment,
La Ardeur taking over me once more,
And subsequently, ending another life...
Oh the pleasure, the bittersweet bliss I receive,
As their luscious essence flows through me,
Sustains me, thrills me...
Feeling their heartbeats throbbing against my mouth,
Clamped on tightly around their necks,
Longing to satiate the hunger within...
Slower, and slower...
The blood flow thickens,
Then dies...
The ecstatic high has ceased,
The body lays motionless,
Petrified glassy eyes glaring intently into mine,
And that is when I feel it...
The harsh pang of regret,
The scalding tears of pain...
Their horrid memories flooding my mind,
Endless torture...
A helpless roar of an animal,
Revolting monster...
That is I...
Soul-less one,
Your death,
That is I...
Two masks;
The beast that shall forever linger in me,
Feed upon the life of others,
Breed and create an incessant chain of obscure children...
My Protgs, my eternal lovers...
The other face,
Is the one of innocence,
Of harmlessness,
And yet, I cannot help what I am
I cannot defy, or end what I am...
I am how I have been made to be...
A wretched fiend...

A captivating write and fresh look into the perceived life of a legend. A vampire that has begun to come to terms with itself, perhaps. An interesting idea. I could see more along this "vein" ( sorry for the pun ... I couldn't resist )
