Sold My Soul

Sold My Soul
November 24, 2004

I had to make the choice, I didn't want to...
Save myself from misery,
Or take it away from you?
We couldn't both be freed,
One of us had to stay behind,
I had to fight against my greed,
And ask myself why,
I even agreed...
So I signed my life away,
To ease the pain in your heart,
And burden myself with the dark.
Now I never feel the sunshine,
Now I cannot hear the laughter.
Everything I see is temporary,
And everything I know is hereafter.
Watching you, my tears fall slowly,
Rolling,
From my eyes into a puddle at my feet,
Contemplating all my losses, this lonliness, this defeat.
Because, you never smile anymore,
And even though I took your pain away,
You're aching for me, but I want you to be the same,
As you were...before.
Before I sold my soul and regretted it,
For not seeing the deceit under everything.
Before I realized it didn't matter which,
Because either way we'd both suffer,
The loss of the one we were in love with.
I had to make the choice, I didn't want to...
And though I took your pain, I still lost you...

This realy hit home for me. I had a g/f rather resently that left me. She said alot of what you wrote here. This is a beautifal wright and it deserves more praise than a lowly shadow can give. Excellent wright.
