My Attic

I found foot prints, in the attic, small feet had paced, A child had waited
I found his blanket, on a chair, he left it for me to find, he's been here, scared
I found a journal, in the attic, small hands had written, a child was frantic...
...I find this child, in the attic, writing in his journal beneath his blanket
Hesitant to frighten, I listen, this child sounds familiar, I know him
Asleep in the attic, I approach, his breath smells familiar, like my own
Removing the blanket, careful not to wake, I see this child, a familiar face...
..Lost youth made its way, to the attic I've made, he's had his trials, finding this place
He's met depression, a child's unknown, his innocence lead him, through the old
Now it's time for us to meet, in this attic of mine, I'll read his journal, as he unwinds
He'll tell me his stories, all his encounters, we'll open boxes, of forgotten laughter
Me and my youth, reunited again, a welcomed relief, in these moments of end
Its time for us to go, in each others conforts, to another attic, one much larger.
