No Contractions

Contributed by CaddishCut on Monday, 29th November 2004 @ 08:15:29 PM in AEST
Topic: goodbyepoetry

I put my wet feet on the cold bathroom floor
The steam from the shower hides my way to the door
I start walking up the stairs to my room
When I realize there is something I forgot to do

As I begin to relive my life since last night
I come to a place where I forgot to say good-bye
I cannot believe it slipped my mind
I must have been too tired or too blind

It is not like I wanted to see you go
It is just that I know that you will not come home
You are off to war in your uniform
I will not be seeing your face anymore

I meant to tell you that I love you so
But like I said before, I did not want you to go
To say all those words would be too final
I did not want to leave you while I was crying

So as I finish my way up the stairs
I grabe a comb to brush my hair
I will now be moving on
Since I am here and you are gone

powerful, emotional, and heartwrenching write. but the choice to move on is a hard one to make, and the fact you were able shows strength and logic.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
