The Queen Annes Revenge

Contributed by deadreckoning1983 on Thursday, 2nd December 2004 @ 12:59:27 AM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

Ever ever we see the shore,
A land of beauty, a land of yore.
The islands of the east.
Forgotten lands held in this grip,
Of sea and sky and ship.
The gulls o'rehead play to the whistle,
A dance on the eddies and breeze.
Oh, to be home under a bustle, or corset,
Finding a woman to please.
But the map points out, a course for a curse.
Home seems to far, to far.
In the rythm of bouncing waves,
A lull dulls the crew to it's sleep.
The sails go slack, and rigging falls loose.
The Devil stole our wind and brought a noose.
Cold and pail, they froze to the deck,
All the while they never knew, they never knew.
I was the mutiny on board,
A foul fellow for it's sorts.
I was the noose and a fine one at that.
My brothers now rest on port.

You darned non-conformist you !!! I have some Alka-Seltzer for those gulls ( Haaa !!! ).

A fabulous write, Dano. A good mutiny always makes for a terrific tale. I loved the imagery and the mix of rhyme that kept it unpredictable.

It still has your soul, brother.

I have no fear you will ever
paint yourself into a stylistic box.
