Towers

Contributed by MegaGroganX on Thursday, 2nd December 2004 @ 03:51:56 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

We build our towers up in the sky
Need to feed our desire
To find our maker, Bring us together
Reaching to the heavens
We come a bit closer to the
Gods we envision

Dreaming visions of spires veiled
In heavy cloud
We scour the land of rock
Which we place one on
Top of the other
Trying to breach the ceiling
That seperates us
And the Gods we have chosen

So each man sets out with
Intentions only to listen in
Hope to path his road smoother
And cobble his heel stronger
So we can climb ever further
In hopes we can lay with
Our very Creator

Carry on we shall go
On with our dreams we
Will be the substitutes for the
Ones we climb towards, Which we
Must be getting closer
We've denied ourselves nothing
But we do not have all
Keen thirst still stings us
Drink after
The Water for our soul

Our thoughts are faultless
We know how to do
This, And our towers get taller
We, Are
Getting closer, We will not be
Forgotten by the
Ones who have Fed us

Come together
We believe we can prop
Our tower taller than
The ones before us who
Have fallen, So we build
On their rubble and walk
On their graves
The very ones who walked
With the
Gods we so lust after

Faces of ours
Remain sturdy and steadfast
The truth has been built
Over, But now we just reason
The Ones we search for
The Ones who so loved us
Have turned shy away
From us, Anger is Theirs and in
Anger we've been forgotten as a
Stain on a perfect carpet is
Laid over by something lesser than
Gods we wish to be

Vengence is Theirs but
Action will not be taken
Left to ourselves, Build we
Continue to reach for the
Hands of the Ones we had
Bitten, Their backs remained
Turned, and they chose to forget
How to look for

The Towers we continue to build.

I liked this poem a lot. You pulled history and dreams together and did a good job. A few places were a little choppy but overall a good read.
