The Face of War

Contributed by summerwine on Friday, 3rd December 2004 @ 11:41:14 AM in AEST
Topic: war

I saw the face of war today
and oh how young it was...
The looks of fear, worry, forlorn dismay
and exactly what is this war's cause?
We are sending children out to fight
it doesn't matter how you slice it
Whether for greed, to remove a dictator
or to show our might...
The young should not have to pay this price
because it is America's will
The flag may wave, as the blood does spill
dying for greed is never right or nice...
Nor is going to war to gain access to oil,
making the rich even richer
While our soldiers barely have enough to eat
and their blood is soaking the soil...
Our mothers and wives wail
our husbands and fathers cry,
And bad arguments do fail
to convince the rest of the world
Why they should rise up in arms or die

"Why they should rise up in arms or die"

I was slightly confused by this part - do you mean other countries, or the american soldiers?

Anyway - good politik.
