The Walk, The Goodbye

Contributed by OhSaige on Monday, 13th December 2004 @ 08:48:22 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Under the old rustic archway I enter,
Beginning my walk on hallowed ground.
Reading the names of resting souls,
A labyrinth of prolonged and shortened lives.

My bones feel a chill as I approach.
But my heart warms as I know you are near.
Your name etched in stone reads like a poem.
Feeling each letter I whisper my goodbyes.

Surrounded by so many that passed before you.
A family collection of so much lost love.
Most robbed of life to early,
One so selfishly given away.

My tears like raindrops fall to the soil,
Watering your seeds of love for a spring bloom.
Pain, sorrow and happiness all reside,
Our bodies have parted our talks will last forever.

As I say my final goodbyes the fog lifts,
The suns rays begin to find there way.
I know it is your tender heart smiling.
Warming me like the daily sunrise.
