Paint me a portrait so vivid and clear Dress me in an elaborate gown Much too posh for my pocketbook Try hard to retract from my eyes the fear
Paint my lips in a beautiful crimson smile For I couldn't model such a grin I must have forgot how In many brush strokes erase my flaws I'm much too tired of remembering
Place me under a starry sky Let the stars invade my eyes Like pioneers so long ago And don't let the tears dim them all I'm trying so very hard not to cry
Bedazzle my neck With gaudy diamonds and such I've never felt classy before
Lengthen my hair Reveal if you dare A side of me never shown For all the days I have lived I have lived alone
