IMAGINE: A BROTHERHOOD OF MAN (AND WOMAN TOO!)

Contributed by steeleyes on Thursday, 23rd December 2004 @ 05:55:01 PM in AEST
Topic: political

Lets imagine its 1917
It's Christmastime in the trenches
Were all stuck out here
On the front line
Devoid of beer and wenches
(Sorry ladies, not very pc that last! ;-)

Lets call a truce
For old times sake
And all the name calling too
And yes I DO mean it
Even for you too!

For a brief spell well sing Silent Night
And maybe Auld Lang Syne
Nows not the time for bitter debate
To do that nows a crime

Lets have a glass and relax as friends
Not fiends in a war
For this is the time for bonhomie
Not swimming in the gore

Let the future stay where it belongs
And let now be about love
No matter our differences in the past
Take a hand from out the glove

And if for just this brief spell
All shake the hand of the foe
Nows the time for a HAPPY face
And feel that Christmas glow!

Think yourself back to the fields of Ypres
Theyres Jerry over there
Yesterday you would kill the swine
But today somehow you care
They sing so sweet that Silent Night
As softly falls the snow
In the darkness of the night
You forget he is the foe

He calls from his bunker and you from yours
And next minute your shaking hands
Then its down to football in between
In those no-mans lands

All smiles and song and hail-fellow-well-met
A common bond of Man
Lets enjoy this moment while we may
Let's enjoy it while we can!

-o-

To anyone and everyone without exclusion and on either side
who has fought honourably with word and mind here over the
past bitter 18 months or so!

-o-

*) *) *) MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!! *) *) *)

(And NO I havn't had a single drink today! )

Merry Christmas, Steeleyes.... you were to me, for the year, what FOX news is to my husband.... Thank you from my little island.
Jenni
