I was suprised
to see that i wanted to be burned
the painful truth
exploits everything I've yearned
There's just a pit there
where my heart used to be
Nothing left...to feel or to see
I've been under the water so long
that I've forgotten to breathe
When the whispers subsided,
I realized why you had to leave
The darkness wants me
but not because I'm special
More or less
because i gave everything up for you
My health
my emotions
my LIFE.
If I could go back
to change what I've done
I wouldn't.
'cause you gave me a heart
and that's all I had to lose.

I've been under the water so long
that I've forgotten to breathe
Geesh... that resonates with me! I gave up far too much, for far too long - for all the wrong reasons and to the wrong person. I.... even set down the pen (I never will again). I know it can feel like you can never regain what you have given up.... but... I know in my heart that you can (it takes time... but it IS possible). I started writing again earlier this year - I have over 100 poems posted here and I will see my poetry published for the first time in the coming months. I mention this only as an example --- of one precious thing that I did get back (and there are others...). But yes, emphatically YES, I believe it IS possible. Never give up hope... never stop dreaming.
Obviously... I found this relatable, honest... real. Great job! Keep writing... and dreaming.
