Inferno

Contributed by angelface on Friday, 31st December 2004 @ 03:37:24 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Once you sat around thinking fire was a game
That started with a spark which soon became a flame.
Soon everything you touched started going up in smoke
From the little things you did to the simple words you spoke.
The little flame you used to love was now burning out of control
And before this all is done you know some heads will roll.
The fire rages wildly and soon becomes an inferno.
You look around for a way out, but there's nowhere to go.
The flames surround you and it looks like it's too late
When you see a shadowy figure who saves you from that fate.
You are taken outside and as with the medics you sit
You see what you've done and take notice of it.
You once thought you knew what you'd need and want
And now you look at the ash and see that you don't.
You look around to find the one that had dared
To risk his life so that yours could be spared.
You see his face and think it must be wrong
Because he has been beside you all along.
So you ask him why he came to the rescue
And he told you it was because he loves you.
Then you awake. It was only a dream.
But the message is true so it would seem.
Now the ball's in your court. What will you do?
Because you know the next move is all up to you
