THE PIRATES SHIP By Katherine Faigen
The creaky ship is boarded and filthy I sway, like a landlubber.
Wasnt I just in bed, sleeping? And now I clutch a canon, weeping
I am sooty, my face and arms I hold a rag and swab the smooth metal
Wasnt I dreaming? Now I keep myself from screaming
A boy is near me He too wipes, sooty, but smiling He sings, and I feel the need to add on I know the song
Louder! comes a call I look; there is a man six feet tall His heads tattooed Hes in a foul mood His brows drawn low His teeth are white, like a wolfs They snap and I start I sing louder
Little Siren, He greets me, familiarly How so? Ive never been to sea But the sailors know me
There are chains around my ankles I am a prisoner; have I been here long? I guess so, if I know their songs
I swear I had just turned out the light Put my head down for the night To wake on a pirates ship
The dilemma: How to get off You can jump, says the boy He points to the sea Where sharks are swimming My head starts spinning
You could stay, he says I look back The captain holds a cutlass Looking ready to attack The first person who crosses his path
Id rather risk the sharks. The boy says, then shouts, Come get me if you dare. Dont do that! I say Too late, he replies. Todays the day I get away!
The pirates start to close in The boy looks fearful realizing his mistake Hes still chained, hand and foot
Dont jump! I cry Too late Goodbye! he calls Then dives
And with a start I wake

Wow lol I'd pay to have dreams like that, terror and all. Sounds like the foundations for a good story if you ask me.. If it inspires me to write something I'll be sure to put you in my credits :) |
