Lifeless her body lays still
A forgotten soul overdosed on pills
She ended her miserable life
Innate with heartache and strife
The heartache falls on her little infant
A sudden shock, speechless in an instant
Her child wails at the tormenting sight
As her mother lay there in the stillness of the night
The sort of life this poor soul led
Selling herself so that her child can be fed
No one stopped to feel her pain
Speaking out about her hurt she did refrain
Sick of all the sleazey abuse
Ending her life she couldn't refuse
Her child in a foster home has landed
From family to family she's been handed
This little girl has grown up sad
Knowing the way her mother ended her life, she gets mad
She's lost her mother's tenderly love
As she looks to the sky above
Her tears fall down like a wild stream
Hoping she'll open her eyes and it's all a bad dream
Reality is so hard to face
When you've lost something that can never be replaced....
'may her soul rest in peace'

What a gut wrenching poem, so vivid and so real. I can really relate to this as I come across it so often in my work as a youth worker in Perth, Australia.
However I could not have written about it so eloquently.
A truly wonderful write.
