Pearly Whites

Topic: LovePoetry

It's my smile.
You see it,
deciding to stay awhile.
It's not that it's perfect,
or particularly bright.
It's not that it's straight,
or even that white.
It's because it's honest.
Each day that goes by,
becomes more like a promise
that'll come true someday
if you want it to,
if you want me to,
I could love you.
Look at me.
You know it's true.
It's a goofy grin,
an affable sin,
it's letting you in
through pearly gates
unable to hate
able to relate
wanting to be great,
for us to be great.
I feel it creep
upon my face
a sign so pure
none can replace
how much it means
to endure this while.
To wait at your side.
To see you smile.
