she didn't call but,
then again I never gave her
my number
and my ears listen
to the voice of the
operator
"please hang up,
and try again"
and I've tried
so many times
but never listened
still that one voice
clouds my mind
and says my name
to silence that tongue
would be the end of me
but I try
knowing she only exists
within this head
through my ears I bled
her words
and through my fingers
she is heard
I listen closely
without her
