Wasteland Flower

Contributed by taintedsoul on Friday, 7th January 2005 @ 06:21:07 PM in AEST
Topic: LovePoetry

Inside, this heart hath
Become the soil in which
Love has been planted. Yet,
How can such a flower bloom
Within a barren wasteland?
This, I do wonder, for within
My darkened soul grows this
Wondrous little bud.

Yet, I
Wish to snuff it out, dismember
The leaves which lay out so
Nicely on display. Yes, there
Are thorns in which grasps upon,
To bleed these emotions from
Deep within. Dare I speak of
This, I think not! For fear that
I might kill this precious life
That grows within the barren
Wastes of mine heart.

This path, I've traveled it
Before, and familiar
Are the sights and sounds to
My senses. I see road blocks which
Deftly block my passage as I try to
Deter my soul from this treacherous
Journey. The pain, it is still
Fresh in the mind and the memories
Burn like hot coals placed upon
The flesh.

How can this be?! This wasteland
Flower blooms, it bleeds and lives
Deep within me. It holds me from
Plunging deep within the chasm of
Some frightful darkness where there
Are no arms in which to fall. I've
Stumbled off this cliff, and have
Fallen into darkness' gift of nothingness.
