There was once a day
When I was happy on my own
I didn't need that special someone
Or anyone's hand to hold
But then you came into my life
You showed me something "real"
You taught me how to love someone
You taught me how to feel
You broke my heart once
You'd think that would be enough
What we had was everything to me
So I didn't call your bluff
You broke my heart twice
I didn't want to let you go
I pretended nothing was wrong
I pretended not to know
You broke my heart again
And I still couldn't see
All you did was front
You never really loved me
The life you promised was all a lie
And it took too long for me to see
But now that I know
I'm happy on my own
And I don't need anyone's hand to hold
