Spreads fertility unfailing the land, where resides a band
Of virtuous people with ample wealth, call that a land
A land which people desire for wealth`s abundant share
Yields rich increase, and where calamities are rare
When burtherns press, it bears, with unfailing hand
To government, due tribute is paid, that is the land
It is the land, whose peaceful annals know,
No famine, no plague nor ravage of the foe
Free from factions and desolating civil strife and band
Of lurking killers that afflicts government, is the land
Chief of all lands, is where no one disturbs its peace
Or even if invaders come, still yields its rich increase
A nearby mountain and waters from rains, springs and thence
These make it a land and with fortress sure for defense
Jewels of the country are these five: Unfailing health
Fertility, Happiness and Joy, protection and wealth
Lands is that which yields its increase even unsought
No land is that whose gifts, with toil only are bought
Blest the land with all these varied gifs increase
No land is that if the government is not at peace

I'm sorry..I got as far as this:

and could go no further because the word burtherns bugged me so much .. I couldn't go on..??? |
