The Midnight

Topic: DarkPoetry

She is the lady of midnight.
Her tears persist earth's eternal thirst.
Like acid rain; it comsumes all.
Upon the night sky she signs her sorrow.
Regret has thrusted the earth into shadow.
She looks down upon us, and sees not one upturn'd face.
The earth is shaken as it begins to awaken.
The omen of midnight arrives once again.

The gathering gloom murmers as it kills with virulence
Whence she sighs, the black breath spreads.
Thwarting innocent desires, she grants no clemency.
Abhoring all things tainted white.
Not one pure thing remains alive.
She wrenches earth within a malevolent grasp.
All mortal beings bleed midnight black.
Screams of sorrow have been silenced; as she smiles.
Earth is swallowed whole and alive.
She ever hungers.
She rips you limb from limb; helpless to resist.
Gazing upon her masterpiece; she smiles again
As blood flows from between her teeth.
The black hole of night can ne'er be vanquished.
It has only just begun.

Evil; like a slap in the face has overtaken her.
Hell's masquerade is unleashed.
She is the lady of midnight.
The ever hungry, relentless midnight.
As the children are the first ill-fated.
Awaiting like beasts at the slaughter.
She leaves none alive.
Death is the game she plays.
The indomitable, infinite game.
Another omen awaits you.
Another midnight awaits your fate.
None of her children are spared; be prepared.
It hovers o'er you, like a cloud on a misty day.
It ne'er leaves you, like a cat awaiting it's prey.
Dare you disobey the midnight?

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
